Hello Jeremy; it’s me, your past self! This will be a little meta, but there will be times that you are down about your progress in this new industry, so this is a little reminder that you got this! Starting anything new can be scary, but it is also exciting! Keep your eye on the prize and you will get past any feelings of inadequacies that you might have.
If you can’t shake those feelings, remember that this isn’t the first time you have overcome something challenging. Remember the health problems you had as a kid? There were years where things were in uncharted territory; where going back to school was scary because you missed so much time from illness. Despite that, you were able to keep your grades up and graduate high school.
Think of your playing, too. Despite starting at 16, you were still able to make great strides in your playing and have become a great musician. Even though you are in a new career, you are still growing as a musician. While things were uncertain (especially when you were playing and teaching full time) you persevered. You developed a great work ethic that you should be proud of and that will help carry you through any challenge as long as you keep pushing.
If you feel unloved or unworthy of love, remember you married a beautiful woman who loves and supports you. She is the most wonderful person you have ever met and every day you get to wake up besides her is a blessing. You are so proud to have her in your life and get to share all these crazy adventures with her, and she knows you can do this, too. Watch this if you don't believe me:
If you feel like you don’t have a good support network, remember that you have friends from many walks of life that will gladly support you (and you them) if there are any obstacles in the way. It’s good to talk with other people about your problems instead of bottling them up.
You should be proud of all that you have done. Hell, I’m proud of you now for writing this and getting out of your comfort zone. It’s going to be exciting to see how much has changed in just a few months! See you then!
